KESLER @ Vanderbilt Divinity Library
70 years ago a man with a vision, John Louis Kesler, opened up the doors of the Vanderbilt Divinity Library to clergy members by allowing them access through the mail to the library’s collections. Today, this door is still open through the Kesler service.

KESLER @ Vanderbilt Divinity Library offers persons engaged in or retired from ministry the privilege to borrow items from the Vanderbilt Divinity Library via postal mail. The service is absolutely free to patrons, as they are only responsible to pay return postage on items borrowed. Read more here...

New Book by IPHC Archivist
Suffering with Christ was not only the experience of the early church but is also that of much of the church today. This volume presents up to date global, ecumenical reflections on the different ways in which the church suffers: from class discrimination to government persecution; from inter-religious conflict to tensions between different Christian groups.

With a special focus on Pentecostal/Charasmatic Christianity, but also bringing perspectives from other Christian traditions into the discussion, this book provides both theological and practical insight.

Harold D. Hunter is the Director of International Pentecostal Holiness Church Archives and Research Center.

Cecil Robeck is Professor of Church History and Ecumenics at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Contents Include:
Introduction; Persecution, Martyrdom, and Christian Self-Definition in the Early Church; A Spirit Theology of Suffering; An Anabaptist-Mennonite Theology of Suffering: Some Features; Christians and Persecution: Making an Appropriate Response; The Scandal and the Glory of the Cross; Persecution of Christians in the Muslim World; An Orthodox Response to Persecution: The Situation in the Middle East; Persecution of the Romanian Church in the Twentieth Century: An Historical and Theological Perspective; Anatomy of Suffering: Consequences of Persecutions in the past for the Church in the Post Soviet Era; Martyria and Koinonia: Theological Reflections on Some Aspects of the History of Poland; God and Caesar: Church and State Relationships in Communist China; Human Rights Violations and the Church in Myanmar; Spiritual Foundations for Interreligious Dialogue and Reflection on its Present-Day Practice
